Flawless Fall Skin

NYC Dermatologist Dr. Doris Day's "Dos and Don'ts" for a hydrated, clear, beautiful complexion

From the LifeMinute team

Summer may be coming to an end, but your skin care routine shouldn't. New York City dermatologist Dr. Doris Day prescribes which skincare habits to keep and which ones to ditch to keep that complexion flawless this Fall.

Hydrate your skin

While getting in your eight glasses of water every day is important to stay hydrated, Dr. Day says it's not the only method to replenish your skin. "You can also eat your water," says the doc. Foods such as watermelon, cucumber and tomatoes are not just packed with H2O but with antioxidants which are beneficial to all of your organs, especially the biggest one: your skin. "It's also really important to hydrate from the outside," says Dr. Day. One product she prescribes is Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream which is packed with optimized water and provides 24 hours of moisture.

Slather on the sunscreen daily

Just because the weather is cooling down doesn't mean the sun's rays are any less damaging. This is why Dr. Day highly recommends wearing sunscreen every day. One of her favorites is Laneige BB Cushion. "What is great about this product is it has an SPF 50," she says, "But also has the optimized water which helps cool and calm the skin."

Pamper the skin

At the end of Summer, skin tone can look uneven, and those brown spots can make you look older than your years. Dr. Day says she sees many patients come in for chemical peels and laser treatments. However, instead of spending money on an expensive procedure, she says she "loves recommending products patients can get locally and [that are] very accessible." One she suggests is Laneige Bright Renew Serum with a combination of ingredients called Melacrusher to help dissolve and break up that pigment that causes skin to look uneven.

Get 8 hours of sleep

Dr. Day says no cream or supplement can replace sleep. "It's really important to get enough sleep every night," she says. Try to get at least eight hours...go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning. One product you can try to help you fall asleep more easily is a sleeping mask with aromatherapy, such as sandalwood oil, to make you feel calm and relaxed.
