When Amy Winehouse dropped out of tour dates with Mark Ronson, he tapped a South Londoner of Jamaican-Iranian descent–barely 21 years old–to fill those daunting shoes. But Roxanne Tatei, a.k.a. Rox, was more than up to the challenge. Her album Memoirs (Rough Trade) shares some of the feisty, handclappy 1960s sound with Winehouse, but she forges her own style. $22.50 at Amazon.

Naomi Campbell organized a star-studded runway show and auction to raise crucial funds towards rebuilding Haiti’s healthcare system for motherand children. The show was hosted by Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York who also walked the runway. Fran Lebowitz made a speech and also walked, so too Chris Brown, Estelle, Diane VonFurstenberg, and Kelly Osbourne. All donated garments will be auctioned online at NET-A-PORTER starting February 15th. The donation is tax deductible and 100% of the event ticket sales will benefit CARE. Naomi Campbell says, “I am deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in Haiti. So many have been killed and severely affected by the earthquake – women and children in particular are most vulnerable in disasters. Fashion is universal, personal and touches everyone. Our aim is to use this season’s catwalk shows in New York to reach people and help raise crucial funds to help save the lives of women and children. |

There was also a tribute to Alexander McQueen.

It’s the first day of Mercedes Benz NY Fashion Week and we were just blown away by the news that British Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen has apparently killed himself.
This news, just three years after his close friend, and Fashion Icon, Isabella Blow – who discovered him and helped him become a star – killed herself. Devastated by this loss, a teary Celebrity Stylist Philip Block and InStyle Magazine’s Hal Rubenstein talk to us. Click her to watch the interview www.lifeminute.tv
ALL PROFITS WILL BE DONATED TO VICTIMS OF THE HAITI EARTHQUAKE DISASTER

To help raise funds for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, international actress and Mango spokesperson, Scarlett Johansson has designed an exclusive handbag with all profits being donated to OXFAM. The Haiti handbag will be exclusively available in more than 1390 MANGO stores worldwide, retailing for $29.90.
The print on the handbag represents the ancient cartography of Haiti, and contains the message “Supporting the people of Haiti” written and signed by the actress.
Scarlett Johansson says: “I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Mango to promote conscious consumerism and to benefit Oxfam’s Haiti Earthquake Response Fund. By purchasing this bag, which I specially designed, you are helping to provide life saving assistance like clean water to the people of Haiti.”
Ninona Vila, Corporate PR Director says: “Given the terrible events that have taken place, MANGO wants to support the victims of the Haiti earthquake. For this reason, we want to offer our clients the chance to collaborate in this effort, as there are so many people who need our help.
Who looked most golden? Hands down we have to say Halle!
Her low-cut, sexy, Kaufman Franco silk bias cut gown looked amazing and we love her hair short again.
Other sexy black numbers were worn by Jennifer Aniston and Mariah Carey.
Golden Globe winner, Meryl Streep opted for a more casual black belted design by Project Runway’s, Chris March, while Jeanne Tripplehorn went for understated gorgeousness in a black Albert Ferretti with Chopard earrings that matched her cuffs perfectly!

Beige and purple also dominated the red carpet. We loved Golden Globe winner, Drew Barrymore’s Atelier Versace gown.

We caught up with singer/songwriter Ryan Star in NYC and he gave us our own little show!
This month, the fun and fabulous,Betsey Johnson was honored by the National Arts Club with a Medal of Honor for Lifetime Achievement. The dinner and award ceremony was held at the historic members-only Gramercy Park club in New York City. Johnson, who has earned a much-deserved stellar reputation within the fashion industry by following her own set of rules, will join the esteemed ranks of previous lifetime achievement honorees including Geoffrey Beene (2003), Oleg Cassini (2004), Carolina Herrera (2005) and Arnold Scaasi (2006). “I’m so excited, honored, and thrilled! It doesn’t get any better than this,” said Betsey. And it doesn’t get any better than Betsey!
Since the 60’s, Betsey Johnson has been rocking the fashion industry with her over-the-top, exuberant and embellished unique designs. She began to first make her mark in fashion history as top designer for Paraphernalia (1965) and it was then that she started to apply her childhood aspirations of becoming a dancer and love of costumers to developing her trademark look of sexy silhouettes; hippie inspired flowing fabrics; whimsical detailing; and a fabulous fit. Thirty years later, alongside her friend and business partner Chantal Bacon, Johnson has witnessed the evolution and expansion of the Betsey Johnson label as it continues to rank as one of the top recognizable American lifestyle brands with over sixty retail stores in international markets.
We had better seats than Chelsea Clinton to see them rock the house full of 84,000 plus screaming fans, breaking the previous attendance record held by Pope John Paul II in 1995.

And the winner goes to…Hayden Panettiere
My fab Hair-Stylist, Nunzio Saviano (from Oscar Blondi) was at the HBO Studio suite styling and saw Hayden up close and personal. He says her locks were by far “the best hair on the red-carpet.” But don’t get too excited ladies, he says, the look “is not so easy to get on your own.”
How to mimic it? Pull all your hair back off your face and twist it into a loose bun.
Easy for me to say! Nunzio chopped all my hair off yesterday!
