Book Review: Then Came You by Jennifer Weiner

This is a love story of a different kind. Four very different women and their experiences surrounding a baby. India, married to Marcus and hoping to secure her own future by having a child. Jules, a Princeton student who sells her eggs in order to put her dad in rehab. There’s Annie, a suburban housewife who’s tired of struggling financially and signs herself up to be a surrogate. Lastly, there’s Bettina, Marcus’s cynical daughter who can’t stop thinking India married her father more for money than love.

Each woman has her own story and her own reasons for the choices she makes. None of the women have it easy and no one has all the answers. Four women from different socioeconomic backgrounds and the reader is bound to bond with one of them and root for a happy ending.

This is one of Jennifer Weiner’s best novels and certainly one of the most emotional. The book combines motherhood, humor, friendship…Then Came You is a winner.
