There was ribbon-cutting, serenading and celebrating as Citizen Watch Company opened its global flagship store in Times Square, joined by Multi-Platinum singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson, who says she and the iconic watch brand share something important in common.

"There's a common relationship that Citizen and I both have," reveals Clarkson, "We both love music. It's really cool what they're doing with these kids, and what now I get to be a part of with Little Kids Rock. They were so adorable, they were so cute, and they're so good. They were like little Janis Joplins in the making. It was amazing. They are so much better than I was at that age."

The "little Janis Joplins" Clarkson refers to are members of Little Kids Rock who were on hand to serenade the star as part of the grand opening festivities. Ten percent of the sales from the store's first week will be donated to the national non-profit that provides music education to schools across the country, as will the proceeds from a Limited Edition timepiece, part of the brand's new CITIZEN L Sunrise collection, one of only five produced worldwide.

Jeffrey Cohen, President of Citizen Watch Company of North America, explains, "This is a very, very special watch; it's only one of a kind. And you've got to go on charitybuzz.com if you want to have an opportunity to win it. And just know that the proceeds from this watch are going to a very good cause, obviously, Little Kids Rock."

Clarkson says she's as much a fan of Citizen's charitable efforts as she is of their watches themselves. "Girl, I love gold, so let's talk about it," she laughs, "And diamonds, that's my birthstone, don't worry about it. I'm lucky. I'm aware." Clarkson adds, "But I love it; I love their watches. They have everything from dainty, when you want to go girlie, and then they have the big thicker ones which chicks love these days, too. I'm a girl, so I love accessories."

Clarkson admits having a few little kids rocking out at home has not only made musical education a cause close to her heart, but it's impacted her musical career as well. "I was single and now I'm married with three kids," says Clarkson, "Definitely I'm more 'Mom.' I've even noticed with music, I'm like, 'Ooh, I just said a curse word in my song. Like, can I do that?' Because you know, when you're a mom...so many things change. It's just a really cool path."
