Nate Berkus Celebrates Outstanding Kitchen Designs

Winner of kitchen design contest is unveiled at LG 'Designed to Inspire' Event in New York City

Home design powerhouses Nate Berkus, LG Electronics, Hearst Magazines, and the American Society of Interior Designers got together in New York City to celebrate outstanding kitchen designs.

"LG partnered with Hearst media and ASID to ask people to design their dream forever kitchen using the studio appliances as the basis for inspiration," says Berkus.

In his role as artistic advisor to LG Studio, Berkus advised on the design of the new Studio suite, ensuring the products embody a pro-style, sophisticated design aim to complement any high-end kitchen design.

"I love more than anything being able to nurture young designers, people who are creating something new," says the designer, "There's a cash prize and they win the whole suite of appliances, which is kind of exciting."

He adds, "LG is a company obviously that stands for technology but they care very deeply about design so our partnership has been an adventure and here's the end result."

And the design compliments any style of kitchen where it be a colonial kitchen, a modern kitchen, something with color or something that's very neutral explains LG's Vice President of Marketing, David Vanderwaal.

"They see kitchens the way that we do a living space not just a cooking space, not just a workspace but a space that people really live in," says Newell Turner, Editorial Director of the Hearst Design Group.

Nate says the kitchen is heart of the home so it's important to really love it and make it your own.

"You know it's funny, design is not a perfect science obviously design is about people making their own decisions, utilizing their choices and sort of creating environment that really tell the stories of who they are," says Berkus.
