The Spring Cleaning Powerhouses of 2015

Here's how to upgrade your Spring Cleaning routine...

From the LifeMinute Team

We're a little obsessed with Spring Cleaning at LifeMinute, so when SHAPE Magazine Editor-at-Large Bahar Takhtehchian offered to fill us in on her latest finds, we were all ears with sponges and mops at the ready. But it turns out, thanks to the perfect partnership of classic cleaning staples Bounty and Dawn, we won't be needing those sponges after all.

"Now, two powerhouse brands have come together to create this amazing 2-in-1 cleaning tool called Bounty with Dawn," explains Bahar, "So this is an ultra durable Bounty paper towel that's infused with the grease-fighting power of Dawn. So, this is amazing because it's going to help to replace sponges and cloths. Super simple to use. All you do is you activate it with a little bit of water, and this way you can clean stovetops, glass, granite, stainless steel, even mirrors. Plus, best of all, you can use these to actually clean the greasiest and dirtiest pots and pans in your home."

And if words like "hypoallergenic" and "sustainable" are on your Spring Cleaning must-haves list, Target is where you'll find Seventh Generation and their whole lineup of deep-cleaning products that are gentle on your world -- including great laundry detergent, according to Bahar..."This is called the Ultra Power Plus Natural Laundry Detergent; it tackles a broad range of stains, it really deep cleans your clothes, it helps keep them fresh and fantastic-looking, too." Plus, the formula itself is hypoallergenic which makes it a safe choice for those with sensitivities. Bahar is a big fan of the Seventh Generation All Purpose Cleaner, too. "It's free of those harsh fumes and solvents that you might find in some other products," she explains, "It also prevents volatile compounds or VOCs from polluting the air. Now they also have some disinfecting wipes that are great because they clean and disinfect in just one step, so they can kill up to 99.9% of household germs."

But back to laundry... How can you make this year-round chore a little easier this Spring? Well, for Bahar, it's not a chore at all! "I love doing laundry," she tells us, "But when I saw this LG Washing Machine and Dryer, I was especially excited." The front-controlled top-loading washer on her wish list has a convenient control panel that is in front of the machine, as opposed to the back like some traditional top-loading models. "The design is super streamlined and very intelligent, so it really makes the most out of your laundry room space," says Bahar. And as for the LG dryer, it's all about the options. "It's an easy-to-load dryer and you can use it in two ways, either open it hamper-style or you just swing it to the side," explains Bahar, "It's very easy to drop in and unload your laundry, and I also love the fact that it has TurboWash technology; this is amazing because it's going to save you 20 minutes per load." Not to mention, the supersized capacity of the washer and dryer means getting more laundry done in fewer loads. "And finally, back to the dryer, it's got some great technology," adds Bahar, "In fact, it helps to sanitize some of your most delicate products. So, let's say you have some toys for your kids or some special throw pillows? You just put them in the dryer and they get sanitized, too."
