With President Obama’s announcement of the allocation of eight billion dollars in high-speed rail funds, the nation will see the creation of a world-class, multi-corridor high-speed rail program. The new system will soon help promote economic growth and add needed jobs. In the long-term, high-speed rail will create a valuable new choice for America’s traveling public, improving congested roadways, reducing our dependence on foreign oil and promoting more livable communities, while giving a boost to established transit systems including bus and commuter rail.
