The Consumer Electronic Show revealed some amazing new tech trends. Reporter Katie Linendoll was there to bring you the best in show.

Smart Cars Get Smarter

"The future of auto is now," says Linendoll, who says that in the next three to five years smart cars will become a lot smarter, even becoming self-driving. "We are almost there!"

In fact, "a lot of this technology is already embedded," she says. The goal? Safe driving, according to the tech expert, who reports that a lot of the big companies are moving toward electric cars (see GM's EV Bolt, for example). At about $30,000, the price is right. Each charge gives you about 200 miles of driving time. Not a bad deal!

Life-Changing Virtual Reality

"The first time you put on that virtual reality device it's like immersing yourself in an entirely different environment," says Linendoll. "You can be underwater, front row at a concert, you can even test your fear to see if you have what it takes to jump off a building."

The availability of virtual reality devices, she says, will change the way we experience daily life. Trips to the dentist, the games we play, even the way we shop for real estate will be completely changed. Many large companies are already invested in this space. See: Oculus Rift, a device owned by Facebook. Sony and HTC are also major players. Stay tuned.

Not .Coms Take Over

The reign of the dot-com is coming to an end, according to Linendoll. In a huge industry shake up, hundreds of new web addresses that end in meaningful suffixes like .wine, .dog, .media, .pizza are becoming available on the market.

"I have to tell you I've taken advantage of purchasing one too many of these. Katie.show, Katie.technology, Katie.gifts. I've taken advantage of the fun ones and you should too. Check them out at name.kitchen." And wave adieu to the ubiquitous .com.

Smart Home Must-Haves

You can never go wrong with gadgets that make running your home a smoother--and more fun--experience. Everything you will need for 2016 and beyond: Smart sprinklers to help you save water and money, gadgets for little ones, thermostats, cameras, and so forth. "Smart home is becoming a powerful destination. Take advantage of it...there's so much cool stuff on the market today," says Linendoll.
