For his Spring/Summer 2027 couture eveningwear collection, “Séraphine,” designer Andrew Kwon looked to the idea of goddesses walking among us — blending the earthly with something more celestial.
“The silhouettes around the collection are very ethereal,” Kwon tells LifeMinute TV. Draping plays a major role, along with intricate embroidery, flowing shapes and diaphanous fabrics designed to feel light and almost otherworldly.
The materials come from around the world and include some of the most delicate fabrics Kwon has worked with, with tulle and chiffon playing key roles throughout the collection. He points to both the opening look, with its layered laces and draping, and the final look as two standout moments — calling the finale a true showstopper.
Music is also a major part of Kwon’s creative process. He says cinematic music and opera are constant inspirations, while “Anya” played a particularly strong role in shaping this season’s mood, bringing what he describes as a Lord of the Rings and goddess-like quality to the collection.
That sense of softness and drama extends into Kwon’s own home style, too. He gravitates toward whites, muted tones, pastels and neutrals with unexpected pops of color — a palette echoed in “Séraphine,” which begins in softer tones before moving into darker motifs and richer color toward the end.
