      Katie Holmes, Julianne Hough, Misty Copeland, Mick Jagger and girlfriend Melanie Hamrick and many more came out to kick off the Summer season for American Ballet Theatre (ABT) with a black-tie gala at the Metropolitan Opera House last Thursday. The June Gala marks the New York Premiere of Like Water for Chocolate, a new ballet inspired by Laura Esquivel’s seminal novel.

      We chat with Julianne Hough, Misty Copeland, choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and author Laura Esquivel all about the importance of dance on ABT’s big night.

      American Ballet Theatre will offer 12 performances of Like Water for Chocolate through Saturday, July 1, during ABT’s Summer season at the Metropolitan Opera House.
