“Forty years went by like that,” said Dennis Basso at his 40th Anniversary showing at New York Fashion Week held at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel ballroom. Kris Jenner, Candace Bushnell, Dee Ocleppo, wife of Tommy Hilfiger, Kelly Bensimon, and Martha Stewart, who handed a bouquet to the designer at the end of his show, were all there to celebrate him. For his Spring/Summer 2023 collection, he dedicated it to evening wear. It captures the mood of being on a beautiful garden terrace or patio on a summer evening, like in Newport and Bel Air.
“The coat collection is pale pink, pale blue, white, cream, and light green," said the native New Yorker designer.
For fabrics, Basso said he used "point d'esprit, gazar, chiffon, a very light duchess satin, and a wonderful silk crepe." The designer added, "they move, they flow, they're light, and give a certain look and an air to the collection."
He also introduced the summer fur jacket, where he took chiffon and point d'esprit together with different fabrics and different thin strips of mink.
As for silhouettes, “we've done one shoulder, body-conscious, also very free flowing, a t-shirt look with a long sleeve or high neck too," said Basso. "It's sort of an interesting look taken and done with beading and a lot of great pants," he added. "Narrow pants and very, very wide pants as well."
