Nearly 9 in 10 homeowners plan to renovate their homes in the near future, with half of them planning to do so within the next year. Now more than ever it's important to know what's cooking in kitchen design trends for 2016. We caught up with HGTV design stars David Bromstad and Emily Henderson for the scoop at the launch party for LG's new black stainless steel series.

"As a designer I love stainless steel it's very classic, but it's also nice to have something new like another option out there and the black stainless steel is the new options," says designer guru Emily Henderson, "It makes it feel really modern and really fresh."

The latest innovation, LG Black Stainless Steel Series is smudge and fingerprint resistant.

What's hot in kitchen design? David Bromstad says when it comes to cabinetry don't do the whole "matchy-matchy" thing but mix it up with different styles of upper and lower cabinets.

Henderson says brass has been hot for a while and is here to stay so go for gold or brass tone hardware.

David and Emily along with industry insiders from real estate and architectural design organizations discuss how homeowners can increase the value of their home but updating kitchens with premium appliances like LG's black stainless steel series.

Panelist and Coldwell banker, Sharon Steele says, "People have to be smart about how they do it. You don't want to take the highest end of your stainless steel package and put it in a lower priced home."

Rather she suggests you go with the highest technology, appliance, and design package you can get.

"It's the first time in fifteen years that stainless steel really has a new color," says Vice President of Marketing of LG Electronics USA, David Vanderwaal, "Now you have the opportunity to make your appliances be part of your design in your kitchen."

The HGTV stars brought to life Pinterest boards to really expand their design possibilities and now LG is challenging consumers to use Pinterest to come up with their own kitchen creations.

Through January 29th create your own Pinspiration board of anything that inspires kitchen design with LG's newest black stainless finish for a chance to win a kitchen suite of your own, $25,000 and a design consult with Emily or David.
