If you feel like a broken record reminding your kids to brush their teeth, wash up or deal with that hair, you’re definitely not alone.
Parents say kids need to be reminded an average of 3.5 times a day to complete just one personal care task, while 60% say hygiene is one of their biggest daily parenting challenges.
Enter Frida Kids, a new personal care collection created specifically for kids ages 6 to 11 — that in-between stage when they’re ready for more independence but have outgrown baby products and aren’t quite ready for products made for teens and adults.
Frida, which started with its baby care line, has since expanded into maternal care and fertility. Now they've created a 32-product kids' line spanning body care, hair care, oral care and grooming.
Frida CEO Chelsea Hirschhorn, was inspired to develop the collection after her oldest son, Hunter, reached this stage and she noticed a gap in products designed specifically for his age group.
Among the standouts is the 3-in-1 Everywhere Wash for hair, face and body, complete with a refillable Travel Buddy for on-the-go use. There’s also an electric toothbrush featuring Frida’s Prove-It Light, designed to help parents know whether kids brushed properly, plus an electric flosser, detangling brushes for different hair types and the cheekily named No B.O. Deodorant, available in Coconut + Bergamot and Sweet Berry + Freesia scents.
The colorful packaging and kid-friendly designs are intentional: the easier — and more appealing — the products are to use, the more likely kids may be to take ownership of their routines.
Parents can help that independence along by letting kids choose products themselves and connecting hygiene tasks to things they already do every day, like brushing their teeth after breakfast and again before bed.
And perhaps most importantly, give them some grace while they figure it out. The goal isn’t perfect grooming overnight. It’s helping kids build habits, confidence and independence — preferably with fewer reminders from Mom and Dad.
Frida Kids products range from $6.99 to $19.99 and are available at Walmart stores nationwide, Walmart.com and Amazon.
