Begin Again stars Adam Levine and Keira Knightly reunited at the inspirational movie's red carpet premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. The film focuses on a down-on-his luck music business executive (Mark Ruffalo) who forms a bond with a young singer-songwriter (Keira Knightly).
"I wanted to do something very positive, and I wanted something uplifting, and I read the script, and I found it very positive," said Knightly.
The leading lady also shared that one of the most important themes of the film is friendship and "particularly a friendship between a man and a woman," which Knightly says is a rare thing to see in a film.
Adam Levine, who plays Knightly's rockstar ex-boyfriend, reveals his character is himself seven years ago. "This character didn't really know how to handle it yet," said The Voice star, "I had a very similar experience, and I drew upon that a little bit."
The musically charged film's director John Carney said it was nice to mix it up with artists Adam Levine and CeeLo Green and actors like Keira Knightly, and to see what you get out of it in the end. Said Carney, "It's very, very, very fulfilling [and] satisfying to make a film in New York and then have it close the Tribeca Film Festival; it's sort of the icing on the cake really, isn't it?"
