Mumford & Sons Brings the Ultimate Collaboration Cross-Country in New Documentary Mumford & Sons: The House Band

Ted Dwane: We are band born out of collaboration, and we're a band that loves to tour, and we've toured all around the world, on lots and lots of different forms of transport. And on this occasion, we thought it'd be lovely to take a train with some of our best friends, and basically be their band, which was a job that I think maybe turned out to be slightly harder than we thought it was going to be. But really, really fun, lots of great moments, lots of collaboration, lots of creativity along the way. So, yeah.

Sam Jones: What Mumford wanted as a band experience, I wanted as a film experience, which is to not script anything, to not plan anything. And I felt like if we did that, the audience would feel very present and very part of it. I've worked with them for 20 years, so I had a relationship and there's trust there, which always helps. There's no egos.

They're incredible musicians. They just know how to make everyone feel welcome and that's not just the other 19 musicians, that was welcoming our crew in, and anyone else. Ben Lovett: What was really fun about this particular experience was we got to unpack other people's songs. So by learning other people's songs, you're always going to be a better writer and collaborator.

And so we were doing that, like rehearsing multiple songs every day, songs we had never studied before. And, just showcase how many brilliant, talented people there were around this film, and yeah, it's a real treat to do that.
