According to the U.S. Department of Labor, black women experienced the steepest drop in labor force participation and have had the slowest job recovery of any group since January of last year. Pioneering black haircare brand Dark & Lovely is launching Building Beautiful Futures: Closing the Opportunity Gap, a multi-year commitment,  bringing educational and career equity to black female college students and young professionals.

The brand has partnered with the NAACP Youth & College Division to provide scholarships, mentorship, and career coaching opportunities to those pursuing four-year degrees and corporate careers. Actress, "activist," and Dark & Lovely brand ambassador, Storm Reid, will be lending her voice to inspire and uplift black women throughout the program.

Building Beautiful Futures Scholarships of $10,000 per year, for four years, will be granted to black female students enrolled in a 4-year institution. The program will offer mentorship masterclasses to all black women with key executives and thought leaders in the industry.

The brand says, through this program, they hope to close the educational and career equity gap by providing resources that help young black women embrace their limitless potential and shape their legacy for future generations.
