Backstage Beauty Tips from the Pros
Fashion Week makeup artists share their "musts" and how to apply them
From the LifeMInute team
Want to be a makeup pro, but not sure what to use or where to start? We caught up with the best in the beauty biz who shared their tips backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
So how do we ace application? Makeup artist Tom Pecheux and Talia Shobrook agree, "your finger is the "best tool."
"It is great to use your finger because you're very much then in tune with the product," says Talia, "you know the texture you feel it, and it also warms it up to your skin temperature."
Or you can opt for beauty pro Romy Soleimani's applicator of choice...the beauty blender. "They are very helpful um especially with a richer foundation. You can really kind of shear it out and take it down, it gives a beautiful fit," she says.
And before leaving the house make sure you grab an eyebrow brush. Susie Sobol says a "groomed brow does so much for the face." She likes to keep one in her bag and bust it out to brush the brows or to separate eyelashes for a quick mascara touch up.
Speaking of mascara, Erik Sota says to never leave the house without it along with concealer to bring the focus to your eyes. To enhance the look even more he says to try a soft brown, olive or even plum, depending on your eye color.
And don't forget....
"Sunblock is essential," says James Vincent who has done everyone from Barack Obama to Lady Gaga. "If you've got great skin it all goes from there," he says.
