If the summer heat and sun left your hair looking a little lackluster you know it's time for a major hair pick-me-up! To get your locks in check for fall steal some of these quick tips and tricks the top hair professionals shared backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
"Less is more." Says hair pro Bob Recine, "don't try to be perfect."
To get your hair as perfect as possible hair and makeup artist, Martin-Christopher Harper says to try out a tint brush. "This is the most amazing thing that is going to save your life," he says "You know those flyaways that get a little too much to handle? You're basically just kind of brushing away these flyaways getting all those unwanted hairs out of your way and just kind of setting it."
Hairstylist Orlando Pita agrees! It's his tool of choice to get "a good pulled back ponytail."
For curling your hair, you want it to look natural. To do this hair guru, James Pecis says to "alternate your sections. Go one way then on your next section go the other, so all your curls don't go in the same direction."
However, curling irons, blow dryers and the summer sun can leave your hair damaged. To avoid hurting it, Ric Pipino says, "don't over dry your hair [and] always use a thermal spray before you flatiron."
Another great way to dodge the dryer is to not wash your hair as much. "Dry shampoo is amazing because it gives you really cool texture, it adds volume, and it cleans your hair," says Jeanie Syfu, the lead stylist at TRESemm.
Don't forget that your hair can be used as a way to express yourself. "Have fun with your hair... do stupid stuff [and] enjoy your hair," says Kevin Ryan who has styled the Hollywood locks of Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon.
