Hair Happenings Fall 2013
The list of new dos for Fall 2013 will make your head spin! At Carolina Herrera, au courant looks harkened back to the past.
"The look is forties inspired. So, this roll kind of comes around with a middle part," said designer Orlando Pita.
Hair also stepped back in time at Trina Turk.
"It's all about really clean, chic 1962 Harpers Bazaar covers," said stylist Martin- Christopher Harper.
But there was also a youthful theme that weaved through hair at Fashion Week.
"We are doing a really low side ponytail behind and we are leaving a little of the top out to kind of bounce around on the runway. And the lines are really beautifully done, a nice side part in a kind of geometric design," said designer Bob Racine.
"What do you want? A ponytail? It's not happening here," said hairstylist Peter Gray at the Badgley Mischka show.
Maybe ponytails weren't happening but another schoolgirl look was big.
"It's always like this marriage ... ya know ... you're trying to make it young but you are trying to make it sophisticated. You've got the braid, you've got this braid through the front, the long narrow silhouette, and then you've got this little chignon sitting on top of the braid," said Gray.
From the history books to the playground to the science lab -- ponytails at Nanette LePore were out of this world.
"The inspiration is coming from a trip to MARS. I was thinking maybe we need to be a little bit sci-fi. A little bit shiny. There are two looks on the girls. The look that is up is basically two ponytails one on top and one on side. And the other look is kind of a variation of a low ponytail," said stylist James Pecis.
Jenny Packman tied the playful look up in a nice bow.
"We wanted to keep the hair really young and really modern to compliment her collection with all the beading and the intricate crystals and all of that. It's inspired by mid 17th century. That's why we have the little ribbons. They're so cute," said hair stylist Jeanie Syfu.
