Wearing a red lip isn't always an easy feat. Here are some pointers to look flawless when doing so.

Consider your skin tone

Test drive them. The best red color will make your skin glow and your teeth look really white.

Blue-pink undertones work best with fair skin

Yellow or orange-based tones flatter dark skin

Matte versus glossy makes the biggest impact

Prepare the canvas

Exfoliate your lips with a scrub or toothbrush to remove dead skin so that the lipstick goes on smooth and looks flawless.

Set with a primer

Apply a drop of foundation or cover-up, especially around the creases and lip line to prevent feathering and make it last.

Line your lips.

Blot. Then re-apply.

Go easy on the eyes
Opt for a more natural-looking eye shadow that doesn't overpower but draws attention to your lips.
