Figuring out which hair products are best for you can often be a costly trial-and-error endeavor, unless you have a celebrity stylist helping you out. Hollywood hairstylist Gregory Patterson, along with Sally Beauty, has created the ultimate Hair Solutions Guide. Whatever your particular hair challenge is, they have curated an array of products to solve your hair problems. Try it now to take advantage of a two-for-one sale, and if you don't love the products, just return them. Here are a few of his top recommendations to cure common summer hair issues. Bonus: All of these product picks are under $10--cha ching!
1. Don't wash the color out of your hair. "Color fading starts in the shower," says Patterson. Be sure to use a sulfate-free shampoo, like Ion Color Defense Sulfate-Free Shampoo. "It's very gentle, so it cleans your hair without stripping away your color," he says.
2. Protect your hair under the sun. When you're going to the pool or the beach, spray your hair with Ion Miracle Leave-In Conditioner. "It's loaded with coconut water and B vitamins, which are great for hair hydration, strength and elasticity. The sun can really weaken your hair, so spray it all over," recommends Patterson. You should also use this leave-in treatment as your daily conditioner, eliminating the need for using heavy styling products after showering. "I'm not a fan of feeling a lot of product on the hair during summer, so this is a great double duty conditioner," he says.
3. A volumizing booster is the secret to a gorgeous summer hairstyle . "Using a volumizing booster is really important during the summer because it helps your hair stay full, maintaining beachy waves or building beautiful texture that's great for braids," says Patterson. His pick: Beyond The Zone Power Lift Volumizing Booster. "It's insane. It has a dual application: You can spray it directly on to your scalp and hair to create that beautiful volume, but you can also spray it in the palm of your hand to customize where you want volume," he says.
4. Fight frizz with extra hydration. "The number one way you can fight frizz this summer is by keeping your hair very well hydrated," says Patterson. His hair nourishing go-to: Mystic Divine Nourishing Masque. "When you got to the salon for a treatment, they'll put you under a heat source. The sun can be your free heat source. Before you go outside, dampen your hair and apply the mask through the middle and ends of your hair. The monoi and argan oils will really hydrate your hair and act as a barrier to prevent frizz," he explains. You can also use it once a week as a deep treatment.
