"Usually we see structural updos and more severe looks at the Oscars, but this year we saw something very different," says Jill Crosby, celebrity hairstylist and spokesperson for Women's Rogaine. "We're trending much younger and hipper. There were new and exciting looks."
Women at home have always looked to the red carpet for tress inspiration. . "They want to feel like they can attain these looks, even if they're suffering from thin or thinning hair," says Crosby. How can they go from dealing with locks they're losing to fuller and thicker hair?
Get-Thicker Tress Tools
Crosby says to start at the beginning: Get a good haircut from a stylist who understands the shape of your face and density of your hair. "This might mean creating a weight line with a blunt cut or adding some layering to get those soft carpet waves." Another option? Introducing color. After all, the Oscars red carpet showed everything from golden to platinum blondes to rich brunettes.
Bonus: Color expands the cuticle, resulting in more volume and the sensation that you have more hair. "You have to have the conversation with someone who has thin or thinning hair about treatment," says Crosby. "So I always begin with Women's Rogaine Foam. It's the only once a day 5% Minoxodil treatment that is approved by the FDA to actually regrow hair."
Ageless Coif Concerns
"I went to Jill because I noticed that thinning was happening and I wanted her to give me a cut and color that was going to boost my hair and make it as voluminous and full looking as possible," says Jamie Stone, a beauty blogger in her 20s. "So Jill gave me a great blunt cut and she boosted my blonde and she also recommended that I try Women's Rogaine Foam. So it's been over a year now since I've been using it and I've really seen some amazing results. I started seeing them around three months and since then it's been on full force. I've been really happy."
Says Crosby: "Hereditary hair loss doesn't happen just with women over 40, 50 or 60. It happens early, as early as in your 20s. So women should be on the lookout for something where they are losing more hair than they think they should be. And then we can start the conversation about treatment."
Quick And Easy Results
Forget elaborate routines that add time to your routine. "It's simple. You don't really feel like you're doing anything extra. I'm a beauty minimalist so for me using it once a day--it can be morning or night or whatever's convenient for you--it makes it really simple," explains Stone.
Women's Rogaine Foam is available without a prescription at Walgreens over the counter.
