External stresses in the weather and pollutants have a major impact on our skin and depending on where you live it can affect you even more severely so it’s important to pay attention to the products you are using. Harsh cleansing can make matters worse causing even more dryness, redness and irritation. So if you’re in a high traffic city such as New York for example, the pollutants in the air will have more of an affect than if you were in a more rural, suburban area. Studies have shown that more than 50% of women have reported having “sensitive skin,” but only 11% of facial cleansers are actually made with them in mind.
Olay has a new Sensitive Cleansing Collection made without soap or other harsh ingredients. It glides onto your skin and gently lifts away dirt and impurities without disrupting your skin’s natural structure. It also calms stressed, dry skin at the surface. The line is dye and soap-free and also comes in fragrance-free. Plus they are affordable, each under $8 at Rite Aid, Target and CVS.
You also want to take care of your skin from the inside. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, at least half your body weight in ounces, eat foods high in antioxidants and get plenty of rest.
In terms of trends for spring, it’s all about a bold lip. Think fiery reds, hot pinks and pops of coral. Just make sure to keep the rest of the face natural and let the lip make a statement.
