Women's Health Beauty Award Winner
The best buys to throw in your gym bag, tested and voted on by the mag's readers and editors
From the LifeMinute team
Thousands of Women's Health Magazine readers, as well as editors, tested and voted on beauty products across five categories: at work, at the gym, after hours, on vacation, and for all social moments. They narrowed it down to 78 winners that suit a woman's every need in every facet of her life. The mag's Beauty Director Molly Nover-Baker shares some victors that will keep you looking good whether you're breaking a sweat or heading out on the town.
This winner's secret ingredient? "It contains a tapioca ingredient to really absorb the oil in your hair, leaving it instantly refreshed," says Molly. It also has a clean mint fragrance, blends easily into hair and doesn't leave behind a messy white residue the way other dry shampoos do. Molly's trick is to spray it on for a boost of texture and volume when styling. Get it for $5 at drugstores.
This serum's been around for over 25 years! "All you need is a few drops to transform dry brittle strands into soft locks," says the Beauty Director. It works by sealing the hair's cuticle so apply it after a shower when your hair is still wet. Pick it up for $10 at drugstores.
The editors especially loved these because they contain a soy extract that helps to moisturize your skin, as well as gentle cleansers to remove makeup (even waterproof mascara!). The wipes also do double duty by not only removing makeup but cleansing and nourishing skin to leave it brighter and healthier. They are oil free, non-immunogenic and are under $7 at drugstores or Aveeno.com.
A bonus from the "On Vacation" category-- this bronzer has a beautiful palate with multicolor bronze hues inside. "It really helps you customize your color from light to dark," says Molly, "It's going to leave you with a natural looking glow, minus the damaging effects of the sun." It's only $13.95 at mass retailers and it comes in four shades.
