The stars were shining, quite literally, tonight at the silver anniversary of the SAG-AFTRA Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in LA. Actors honored their own for the year’s best performances in film and television. And a Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Alan Alda, the first person ever to win an Emmy award for acting, writing and directing. Tom Hanks did the honors with a moving tribute.
Among the big winners: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel swept each of the TV comedy categories, 3 in all. This Is Us, won for top drama series, and Jason Bateman, Outstanding Performance in a Drama Series for Ozark. On the film side, Glenn Close was a winner for her work as lead actress in a dramatic film, for, The Wife, Rami Malek, for Bohemian Rhapsody and, for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture, Black Panther.
