From Broadway to the big screen and back, actor Alan Cumming is popping up everywhere lately, even at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The Good Wife star performed a sketch on social media with Rachel Dratch to open up Kenneth Cole's runway show on Tuesday, where, backstage, the triple threat talked about his return to the stage in Cabaret, reprising the role for which Cumming earned a Tony Award in 1998.

It's been over 15 years since Cumming took the stage as the Master of Ceremonies; currently, he's rehearsing for the revival, playing opposite Michelle Williams' Susan Boyle -- and he's doing it all while still shooting The Good Wife.

So how does the stage compare to the set? Cumming says, "It's just that sort of... immediate connection with an audience ...you can just feel how things are working, you can feel if people are with you, if they get it and if they don't, and that's a really exciting visceral thing that you don't get on film."

The versatile actor says he likes to "mix and match" when it comes to choosing between stage and film projects but says if he had a gun to his head, he would choose the feeling that theatre gives him. Joked the Scottish-born performer, who recently turned 49, "I just thought I'm going to be dancing my tits off on Broadway when I'm in my 50th year. I'm probably never going to be asked again."
