Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton and John Turturro were among the stars walking the red carpet at the Exodus: Gods and Kings premiere at New York's Brooklyn Museum. The biblically-inspired 3D epic adventure, from acclaimed director Ridley Scott, chronicles the story of Moses as he leads an uprising of 400,000 slaves, taking them on a monumental journey of escape from both their oppressors and the terrifying deadly plagues in Egypt.
"It's such an incredible story," says Christian Bale, who stars as Moses, "It's one that, you know, has resonated for millennia -- and for a reason -- and so people have such strong, incredibly strong, opinions on how Moses should be portrayed."
Co-star John Turturro, who plays Seti in the film, commends Bale's performance. "I think Christian, obviously, is a wonderful actor," says Turturro, of the chance to work with Bale, "So I'm very happy I got that opportunity."
For Bale, the opportunity to play Moses is not one he took lightly, "It certainly took bravery to portray this character because he is such a monumental figure," says Bale, "It's one of the strongest, most intense figures that I've ever read about."
