On April 17, animal lovers gathered to celebrate the ASPCA's 150th anniversary of serving animals in need at the 19th annual Bergh Ball. The festive, black tie event was held, as always, at the Plaza Hotel Grand Ballroom. The theme? "Round-Of-A-Paws" for 150 Years."
Nathan Lane emceed, introducing honoree Drew Barrymore, who spoke of her deep, passionate love for the rescue dogs she has adopted throughout her life.
Other celebrities were also in attendance, and here is what they had to say about the ASPCA and their many accomplishments.
"This is celebrating the wonderful ASPCA who has been doing this for so many years, helping the fur babies of the world, and I'm a fur baby mom. So I'm all about this. It's important because there are so many animals that need homes and care. I have a rescue dog and cat."
Selenis Leyva, Actress, Orange Is The New Black.
"This is the 150th anniversary, which is amazing, crazy. And I adore all the support for animals, adopting animals, I love that they're here tonight. You know there are so many animals that have no home, that need a foster, that need love. We're here to hopefully get people to understand that. I want to take them all home."
Christian Siriano, Designer
"It's our one big fundraiser a year where we raise a lot of money to be able to help animals for the year, and it's always very well-attended and prestigious."
Georgina Bloomberg, Board Member, ASPCA
"I just rescued a little puppy outside one of my own concerts. He's the sweetest thing in the world."
Meredith O'Connor, Singer
