Known as “America’s Dairyland” and for those iconic cheese heads worn at Green Bay Packers games, Wisconsin also has some well-known celebrities. Mark Ruffalo, Heather Graham, Chris Noth, Tony Shalhoub, Chris Farley, Danica Patrick, Liberace, Georgia O’Keeffe, Orson Welles and Harry Houdini all hail from the Badger State.
But these well-known peeps aren’t Wisconsin’s only claim to fame. The state served up the first-ever ice cream sundae in 1881, celebrated the first-ever flag day in Ozaukee County and the news satire organization The Onion was created by two University of Wisconsin-Madison students.
The state also had the coldest temperature ever recorded, -55 degrees Fahrenheit in Sawyer County in 1996 and Wisconsin is also nicknamed the “Malibu of the Midwest,” because of its freshwater surfing.
There are tons of other outdoor sports to try in Wisconsin and of course the coolest museums including; Harley-Davidson, Milwaukee Art Museum, National Mustard Museum and Circus World.
