Cabernet Sauvignon – great with meat such as a steak, burger, or roast. Goes well with hard cheeses such as aged cheddar or gouda.
Merlot – versatile with anything from berries and fruits to chicken and beef and cheddar and Gorgonzola cheeses.
Shiraz – good with barbecued or braised beef, burgers, chicken and duck, lamb, as well as smoked or sharp cheeses, such as Edam.
Malbec – pairs well with leaner meats and pasta dishes. Goes well with blue cheese and other pungent, soft cheeses.
Pinot Noir – complements salmon and other fatty fish as well as pasta, casseroles, or stews. Pairs with nutty cheeses such as Gruyère.
