Cabernet Sauvignon – great with meat such as a steak, burger, or roast. Goes well with hard cheeses such as aged cheddar or gouda.

Merlot – versatile with anything from berries and fruits to chicken and beef and cheddar and Gorgonzola cheeses.

Shiraz – good with barbecued or braised beef, burgers, chicken and duck, lamb, as well as smoked or sharp cheeses, such as Edam.
