Well this summer is certainly going to be different with many of us spending more time at home and preparing our own meals, and there’s never been a more perfect time to grill. It’s a great way to get outside with the family and experiment with different flavors. BBQ expert and head grill master for Weber, Kevin Kolman, shared the scoop on the must-haves to take your grilling game to the next level.
There are four important things to keep in mind when grilling – grill, meat, seasoning and technique. If you have your weber grill ready to go for summer, then you’re already set.
The focus of grilling tends to be on flipping and techniques, but the best way to experiment and elevate the flavor of whatever you’re grilling is to use seasonings designed specifically for grilling. Many people don’t realize that it’s not ideal to put your usual spices on foods that you’re grilling.
Weber Seasonings are specially formulated to stand up to the heat of the grill and are designed with the science of the grill in mind. Weber seasonings are made with premium spices that provide full flavor; salt to tenderize and some have sugar to help with caramelization on the grill. Flavors include Roasted Garlic & Herb, Chicago Steak, Kick’n Chicken, Gourmet Burger and new Garlic Parmesan.
What are some other grilling tips you should know? When you cook, make sure each item is the same size, so as to cook at the same rate. Items that are thicker use more seasoning. You can season burgers from the inside out by mixing the meat and seasoning in a bowl with a spoon instead of with your hands, which stops the fat and the proteins from activating, so they won’t fall apart on the grill.
