The whimsy of Anna Sui is timeless, as evidenced by the designer's devotees at New York Fashion Week who showed up in their favorites from seasons past...
"I'm a big fan of hers," says actress, author and comedian Amy Sedaris, "I've been to her show a couple [of] times. It's always fun. It's got the best reputation. I'm wearing it right now. Yeah. Still fits."
Model Coca Rocha shares a similar sentiment, "This is actually an old Anna Sui I've had for years. ... I mean, it's its own genre. No one else has an Anna Sui twist."
The twist for Fall 2015 is a youthful spin on retro-Bohemian pieces with strong Scandinavian influences. Knit caps with ear flaps, patterned ponchos, celestial folkloric needlework and ponyskin boots from Frye all lent to the Viking Princess vibe, not to mention the slew of cozy coats and separates embellished with everything from shearling and fur to delicate lace and intricate embroidery.
But still there were all of the vintage Anna Sui touches that we've come to expect from a designer who delights in transporting us to places unexpected. "Her patterns, her bright colors, her metallics. And she loves her 60s [and] 70s," says Rocha, "And being a girl who never really lived through that era, it's always great to be able to wear her clothes and to feel like you were part of that once."
