Anna Sui Spring 2015: The Road Less Traveled
Surprises abounded at Anna Sui where the vibe was chill, the looks were fresh, and the fashionistas were pleasantly caught off guard by the brand's novel choices for Spring 2015.
Marie Claire Creative Director Nina Garcia observes, "Some unexpected trends. Lengths vary. Very long. And still a lot of color. I feel like flowers, there's this whole garden theme."
And while floral prints have run rampant across Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, at Anna Sui, it was layer upon layer of floral motifs: tiny sprays of flowers sprouting up on creamy blazer-and-shorts sets, mixed patterns of larger blooms colliding across lengthy skirts and along draping sleeves.
The layering alone is enough to catch the attention of Seventeen Senior Fashion Editor Jasmine Snow, "I'm seeing a lot of layers, which I was surprised by. It's kind of refreshing that people are still using layers."
Sunglass-sporting models with tousled tresses made their way down the runway in dream-like fashion, swathed in ethereal flowing dresses, denim and camouflage coordinates and gleaming green and gold fabrics.
For Snow, the shades of green are another departure from the norm. "I've actually seen a lot of hunter and olive green which is surprising for Spring, but pretty cool," she says.
And to complete the look, standout shoes: everything from short, colorful, chunky boots to "Very strappy heels," adds Snow, "Which I'm excited about."
