Boudoir Meets Black Tie- NYFW Spring 2014
Designer Rita Vinieris may attract more slippers than stilettos to her spring collection
From the LifeMInute team
Designer Rita Vinieri's spring dress collection seems as suited for stilettos as it is for slippers. The show takes place in a ladies' private bedroom.
"The inspiration was the space between boudoir and black tie, creating a dress that's got simplicity yet sensuality for the woman that wants to make an entrance," she said.
With Vinieri's signature high slits, she's sure to do that. But making an exit is just as important.
"I always feel that a woman should be able to wear a dress and for the dress to be simple enough so that it shows her and that's it's always wonderful when she walks away and everyone is saying: wow, look at that!"
Baby got back ... the designer plays peekaboo with red, black and white patches of lace seen from behind. But the real love affair is between Vinieri and lace.
"I used a lot of laces. I found an amazing supplier of American lace, which was wonderful. So, it was all made in America. And then I had a lot of fun working with all the laces and layering them to create almost like a brand new lace."
Solid, silk ribbons tied around the model's waists creates a texture play. And the show's finale is anything but smooth.
"A must have is the beaded slip. It's sheer. It's beading on top of lace. And it's the simplest thing a woman can wear and feel sexy in."
