Carolina Herrera is so elegant. Her voice. Her clothes. Her clientel. You might feel intimidated seeing her show but Tina Fey reminds us not to take fashion too seriously.
"I was lucky enough to wear Carolina at the Golden Globes. And when we were going in for fittings for the Globes they had everything up that they were working on for this show. I know secrets," she whispers with a sinister smile.
The queen of dressing celebs for the red carpet, Carolina's latest crop of stunning gowns make their mark with geometric prints and luxe fabrics. Something else that's new -- shoulders.
"It's about new proportions and I say new proportions because I say round shoulders, volume at the top but then very skinny on the bottom. And so the proportion is perfect," says Herrera.
It was hats off to those new shoulders -- and .. well, hats on too !
"The hats. I love the hats. I found this hat and I called Orlando Pita and I said call me and tell me what you are doing with the hair? And he came up with this wonderful hair that goes so well with it," she says.
Orlando Pita AKA Cake Boss -- his hair dos are reminiscent of sugar flowers on a wedding cake.
"We are using this foam stuffing to make the shape and then we are using the ponytail pieces that then get made into little rosettes on the top and we use the rest of the hair to wrap a band around it, " he says.
It isn't just perfect hair raising eyebrows on the runway.
"The look today is an eyebrow focus. Making them one shade darker than they're natural color. Slightly arched toward outer ends. A very classic beauty, " says Makeup Artist Diane Kendall.
The palette of plums, purples, blues and browns has burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese
all warmed up.
"I've been wearing a lot of Carolina Herrera lately. When I did the photo shoot for Vanity Fair's Best Dressed List we met and I fell in love with all the clothes that were on the rack, " she says.
