Catherine Malandrino's Fall 2013 Collection has Holes in It
Thank goodness for product and primping! Models backstage at Catherine Malandrino need extra of both thanks to the blizzard outside. But the designer's fashion forecast for fall 2013 is sophisticated, sexy.
"I would say I introduce a lot of this very clean pure line with new proportion, a very high waisted skirt and pant with a small torso and a very elongated silhouette. So, it's all about elongating a woman's body," says Malandrino.
Showing in a Chelsea loft, the French designer continues to deliver dresses that flatter the female form and earn her a cult-like following. It almost appears the racks were attacked, before the unveiling, by Edward Scissor Hands. Clothes have cut outs created by crochet, embroidery and lace.
"It became more about the silhouette of the face than the makeup and that allows Catherine's clothing to really stand out," says makeup artist, Tiffany Johnston.
In many cases skin peeking through stands out more than clothes ...
Fabrics are rich ... velvets, satin, leather. And colors are deep ... burgundy, green and black.
But Malandrino's must-have big oversized wrap coat with high collar offers plenty of coverage .. say .. from a nor'easter.
