Duckie Brown's fall 2014 collection is quite the gender bender.
"We are showing womenswear with menswear this season for fall 2014," says designer, Steve Daniel Silver.
The edgy menswear label has always blurred the lines between male and female with their signature short over long silhouettes -- where pants read as skirts.
"I think we've always wanted to do women it's just sometimes we show it on a man, " says Steve Cox, designer.
If you're a girly girl .. this collection is not for you. The design duo specifically goes after women with big plans for their pleated pants, sweatshirt dresses and elegant fabrics.
"This season was much more about evening. There's a lot of silks and taffetas. We've gone back to a lot of color," says Cox.
A rad red hits the runway alongside navy and lime. Bomber jackets and peacoats are paired with tight pants. The athletic influences throughout are a slam dunk -- lots of hoodies and track jackets.
"The silhouettes are tighter, more sexy, more chic. It's the right amount of androgyny that works both ways, " Nigel Barker, photographer.
Singer Joe Jonas would of smashed the symbols in celebration of the cross-dressing event ... if he was a drummer.
"I'm always impressed by what they put together," Singer, Joe Jonas.
Hair is anything but put together -- disheveld is more like it.
"It's a men's and women's look and so the look kind of is the same it's really very lived in, real natural, no oil, no shine ... really just a lot of kind of grit," Jon Reyman, Stylist.
The hair dos have teeth and the make-up has subtlety.
"I'm using OCC Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics .. using their eyeliner. They make a great taupe for the eyes," says Ralph Siciliano, makeup artist.
Duckie pumped-up the female accessories with color blocked, pointy toes and skinny heels.
"We have women's shoes that we did with Ruthie Davis," says Silver. "We have a real interesting shoe for men this year."
"Yeah - it's a slip on," adds Cox.
That shoe -- a cross between a men's loafer and a woman's ballet flat sums up the show: extreme. Duckie Brown may thrive on gender confusion but one things clear -- their womenswear launch is a hit.
