EDUN Rocks the Runway Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week
Cue the electric guitar riff -- cool is the chord rockstar Bono and wife Ali Hewson strike with their downtown Edun label on the catwalk.
"Compared to the music business .. fashion .. wow .. I mean it's tough. You gotta really have to believe in what you're doing, says Bono."
The menswear and woman's line has us believing guys could handle some bling -- chain linked scarves and studded sweaters, for instance.
"It's a huge honor to be part of New York Fashion Week and I couldn't imagine showing Edun anywhere else but here because of the energy in this city. Everywhere you go you are constantly challenged in a very positive way, I think," says Ali Hewson, Founder.
Fashion followers are challenged to work red into their wardrobe this Fall -- with brown to back it up. Belts make an encore along with a youth classic -- tartan plaid -- styles singer Billy Joel may want to dress Virginia in but it's Bono's vision.
"Everyone is so tired of this sort of pseudo glamour plus bling thing. She's found some kind of hybrid. Where ya know it just looks very fresh to me. It's just a little crazier than usual," says Bono.
Crazy cool. Velvet. Satin. Biker Jackets. Leather vests. This edgy line will have lots of groupies.
"In a sense they are ageless and the vibrancy of the colors this season I think reflect that ...this sort of iconic clothing they've taken and done it in their own way ... that's something that we want to have that energy in Edun," says Hewson.
