Houghton Fall 2015
Fall 2015's Houghton Girl is "strong and amazing"

There were no shrinking violets at Houghton, but there was a deep purplish-red lip that was as much a part of the Houghton vibe as the statement-making clothes themselves.
Designer Katharine Polk explains, "The makeup's kind of funny. I always wear a red lip, and my assistant was like, 'We have to do your red lip.' My amazing Lead Stylist Maude...she came and she was like, 'We gotta do your red lip,' so, with the bangs, we were like, 'It would just be so strong and amazing.' And it worked with every single color. And so, we tried a couple of other things and they just didn't work. The red lip was just so natural, so we did it."
What else did the label do for Fall 2015? Aviator-inspired bomber jackets with plush shearling trim, drapey layers knotted just-so, body-hugging dresses and separates in camo colors, explosions of fur and even a few cropped tops perfect to pack for a Fall getaway.
"This season it was a little bit of a military influence," says Polk, "We have a mlange yarn that kind of looks like a camouflage when it comes together because it has different colored yarns in it, so when you knit it together, it kind of develops like this camo look that picks up on the military kind of vibe."
Of the deep olives, navy and black dominating the collection, Polk says, "I love the color palette. I really tried to develop the day to evening, and the separates, and make sure every look was super strong."
Orange is the New Black star Dascha Polanco has been on board with Polk's designs since Day One, succinctly summing up the Houghton aesthetic, "[It] just makes me feel sexy and empowered."
