Jenny Packham Fall 2013, 17th Century Style
Jenny Packham's fall 2013 collection of sparkling champagne dresses and rich red takes us back in time -- and actress Katherine Heigl enjoys the trip.
"There were about 10 dresses that I would die to wear!" says Heigl.
Crystal encrusted necklines turn heads.
"It was inspired by the salons of the mid 17th century where all the very intellectual literary women would get together and express their ideas so very much taking the mood of that and the colors .. very sort of deep colors and trying to get the spirit of that woman."
That woman wore black but it was anything but basic with silver beading and embelishments. Red is a key color on the runway as is satin fabric.
"We wanted to keep the hair really young and modern to kind of you know compliment her collection with all the beading and the intricate crystals and all that," says hair stylist Jeanie Syfu.
Ribbons in the model's hair are meant to reflect the period.
They also show some skin in low cut designs.
"The key look with this was expensive skin. Because the clothes are expensive I just wanted the skin to look expensive," says Talia Shobrook, makeup artist.
The show's history lesson is a shining success.
