Jill Stuart Fall 2013...Laser Cut Above the Rest
Jill Stuart's fall designs are undeniably feminine with just enough edge to keep them from feeling frilly.
Lacey numbers are her signature but a palette of blacks, browns and touches of leather even menswear accents -- deliver sexy not soft.
"My inspiration was beautiful aristocratic English girls," says Stuart.
Perhaps princess Kate will put in an order for the purple jacket. If the royal stylist calls, Stuart has a recommendation:
"I love the Rafia dress that had the lace blouse under it with the little caplet. I think that looks really new."
Fur caplets make a comeback and a gleaming theme throughout Mercedes Benz Fashion Week -- gold.
"I worked a lot with different textures, a lot of different laser cut embroidery ... laces," says Stuart.
Her one kick of color comes from a bowl of berries.
"There was a lot of beautiful berry colors like blossom and port, bordeaux and mauves and the berry family."
But just when things are feeling sweet Stuart stomps all over that image with aggressive shoe styles.
"I love designing shoes. Shoes were a big part of the collection."
