There was a fun family feeling at Nanette Lepore where the silhouettes were swingy, the colors were rosy, and the buttons were big and bold.
Actor Steve Buscemi is a big fan of the designer and her work, "I love how her clothes look, especially on my wife. We're good friends with her and her family, and family is very big in our life."
ELLE Magazine Editor-In-Chief Robbie Myers notes, "The lace dress -- I think it was her daughter who was wearing it -- was a beautiful silhouette," with Actress Kelly Rutherford pointedly adding, "It's one of those designers that really the mother and daughter can wear."
High hemlines and swingy sleeves added to the collection's utter charm, while buttons and studs punctuated everything from flattering military pants to keyhole cutouts. "I love that they're so feminine and pretty..." says Saturday Night Live Cast Member Vanessa Bayer.
While the makeup we've been seeing for Fall has veered towards the fresh and minimal, the look at Nanette Lepore explored the other extreme. "The inspiration for Nanette is really about that posh schoolgirl that went away to boarding school and discovered makeup for the first time," Makeup Artist Grace Lee tells us, "Some editors have asked, like 'How many layers of mascara?' I'm like, 'Maybe 20? Maybe 30.'"
But for Nanette Lepore, the priority was just creating a wonderfully wearable wardrobe for women... "It's a very sensible way to get dressed, where you're wearing like, a cool military pant and then you have your gorgeous soft blouse with it," says the designer, "I think that that's a nice comfortable way for women to dress because it just feels natural."
