NYFW Behind the Scenes: Hair Trends
The pro's break down the hottest looks for Spring 2014

Festival Locks
Anthony Turner, lead stylist at ICB says it pays homage to festival hair.
"It's very unkept; it's very cool, very easy, very nonchalant. I'm not using a comb, I'm not using a brush, I'm not using anything like that, " say Turner.
Just waft the hair with a blow dryer, very lightly and voila...an easy fun cool hair-do.
'70s with a Twist
At Jenny Packham, Jeanie Syfu's inspiration was a period piece, Edwardian but with a nod to the '70s.
"I'm setting the hair with 3 sized curling irons. Smaller underneath, larger on top. And the smaller size is actually going to give you that volume and lift. The teasing creates a texture and softness to it that's going to make it look a little modern," explained Syfu.
Confident Cool
Laurent Philippon says, "We're really looking to catch the essence of the BCBG woman. It's a very slight wave so were working the hair with an iron and I always keep the iron parallel to the hair so there's no breakage, its all very soft."
Road Trip Tresses
A very easy look for summer, think driving cross-country with the windows down. It's road tripping for Trina Turk.
Martin Christopher-Harper tells us, "We're going to use the 1 ¼ iron to kind of manipulate the hair around and give it a bit of a soft wave."
Structured Ease Pony
Orlando Pita wanted to promote healthy hair with his look at Derek Lam.
"We're kind of having very loose waves, that's the ease part and how we start creating those waves is that we spray the Phytolaque soie which is a very light hold hair spray with beautiful shine and then we're tying the hair back into a ponytail," says Pita.
Grungy Chic
Don't think dirty. Rutger, lead stylist at Rebecca Taylor says, "It's more grungy in the way like cool girl but not too dirty. A little bit of chic in there. "
Use a little bit of prepping mist on the hair so it gets some texture. And use a curling iron to get a nice wave going.
Rutger tells us, "It's like a mix between straighter, wavier. And on the runway it's just going to look very effortless and that's what we tried to achieve."
