Both the guys and gals were loving Nanette Lepore and her collection of wonderfully wearable women's dresses and separates that, as Actress Kelly Rutherford noted, are so timelessly stylish that both mothers and daughters can pull off the runway looks in a real life way.
Actor Steve Buscemi agrees, "[I] love how her clothes look, especially on my wife," with Saturday Night Live Cast Member Vanessa Bayer adding, "I love that they're so feminine and pretty..."
Even the runway show itself was all in the family... "The lace dress -- I think it was her daughter [who] was wearing it," says ELLE Magazine Editor-In-Chief Robbie Myers, "It was a beautiful silhouette."
While closet-sharing mothers and daughters will be fighting over Lepore's flattering military pants and high-hemline swing dresses, Pamella Roland is doing double duty for Fall 2015, transporting women through time (to the early 1970s) and space (across the sea to Paris).
"The inspiration is early 70s Paris, so lots of great boots. Obviously there [are] great gowns but there [are] some really great coats," says Designer Pamella Roland, "You'll see our hair and makeup is Brigitte Bardot looks. Lots of great colors for Fall, too; you know, the plums and burgundies and golds and olives. And lots of great embellishments."
At Diesel Black Gold, duality presented itself in a bold, young way with dark dresses and separates, with both 70s and 80s influences, juxtaposing masculinity with femininity.
With a slew of leather and metal-studded separates, Musician Wyclef Jean notes, "The clothes really go, as a rock star." And for more of the "T-shirt and jeans" crowd, there was much to love, too, says Model Gigi Hadid, "There [are] just such good everyday pieces."
Andreas Melbostad, Creative Director for Diesel Black Gold, found inspiration in combining the contrasting elements. "For me, this was all about the raw beauty. I wanted to express this sort of duality in the woman," he explains, "So she has a masculine kind of structured side, and she also has a very sensual flirtatious side."
And at Leanne Marshall, there was a multiple personality vibe to the designs, which chronicled the descent from the sane to the insane. "It's inspired by The Story of Adele H," explains Designer Leanne Marshall, of the ethereal collection of dresses and gowns with flowing folds of sheer fabric, "She's madly in love with this lieutenant, and it drove her to actual insanity. Through the collection, you see the girl go through these four stages, and you see her transition into complete madness."
So whether you plan to spend Fall 2015 beautifully spiraling into madness, living it up as an androgynous rock star, time-traveling your way through Paris or closet-swapping with your mom or daughter, New York Fashion Week continues the trend of having something just right for everyone.
