"Well, Fall is very sensual," says designer Monique Lhuillier, and it's clear fellow designers Rebecca Minkoff and Lubov Azria for Herv Lger agree, with each designer revealing a distinctively sexy collection for Fall 2015.
At Rebecca Minkoff, the shades of sexy ranged from luxurious burgundy to rich browns and lots of suede, leather and fringe. Designer Rebecca Minkoff explains the inspiration for her namesake collection, "I had just finished reading Just Kids by Patti Smith; I really wanted to take that raw sexuality that I felt like she embodies. You know, growing up in New York in the 70s."
Actress Victoria Justice loved the Bohemian vibe. "Her designs are really innovative, and I also love that they're very chic but also have this simplicity about them." Model Lindsay Ellingson adds, "I'm a big fan of Rebecca Minkoff. I'm wearing Rebecca Minkoff right now, and I love how comfortable this is, girlie yet cool."
Over at Monique Lhuillier, sexy body-hugging dresses were topped with tailored blazers, dark cocktail looks were embellished with intricate lace overlays, and dramatic evening gowns in shimmering purple-grays and golden metallics glided down the runway.
"It's a darker side to Monique," says designer Monique Lhuillier, "We've broken them up into Day then Cocktail and then High Drama for evening... The nails this season are very glamorous. It's about the details being more dramatic. And this woman is in charge and confident, and the nails play into that. There's a little bit of that dark, exciting side...the unknown."
And at Herv Lger by Max Azria, the stained glass windows of the magnificent Basilica De La Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudi provided inspiration for a seriously sensual collection populated by body-hugging silhouettes in brilliantly busy jacquards in rich emerald and sapphire tones, glass beading, metallic studding and bandaged booties.
Designer Lubov Azria explains, "The first part of the show is all about nature. The second part is passion. The third one is glory, which is kind of interpreted art nouveau style, which is beading, embroidery... Just trying to, you know, do something different but also that stays within the theme of the collection."
For the celebs in attendance, the collection delivered. "If I'm ever feeling sexual, I throw on Herv Lger. That's just logical to me," says actress Michelle Rodriguez. TV Personality La La Anthony agrees, "Every woman instantly looks sexy when they put it on."
And while the seasons may change, instant sexiness is always in fashion...
