It's like a party in the street at the Kenneth Cole show!

"It's a traditional urban aesthetic married to what we call 80s harlem chic. It's clean, refined streetwear, married with elements of leisurewear and sportswear."

Guests mingle with leather clad, sneaker strutting models snapping pictures of the crowd in a weird role reversal. Orange, green and a fluorescent yellow looks flash throughout the room like traffic lights at a busy intersection.

"It's very comfortable, it's very colorful, and very different. Its the mixing and matching that makes fashion very exciting," says Kenneth Cole.

It's an exciting collection alright. For example, one outfit is a flared skirt toughened-up with a bomber jacket. White mesh t's and leather vests contribute to the retro edge.Cole was sure even to weave just the right hair and make-up into the party.

"We've gone with the braids. Full braided and we've got braided to the nape and then a bit looser," says Esther Langham hairstylist.

The eye makeup mirrors the electric energy in the room.

"It's harlem grunge .. gold into greens .. all these kind of acidy green colors. It's really just kind of a hot New York girl," says Romy Soleimani, makeup artist.

From tropical to animal prints the clothes are as wild as the show.

"I think right now this is the place to be at New York Fashion Week. It's all rather confusing but rather fabulous," says Joanna Coles, Editor in Chief of Cosmopolitan.

Cole never disappoints when it comes to celeb turnout. How appropriate that Sex and the City vet Mario Cantone is enjoying the New York influences.

"I love coming to Kenneth's shows. He's a good friend. And I love his stuff," says Cantone.

Menswear stays right in Cole's wheelhouse ... office attire balanced with sporty stuff.

"I think it's playful and fun. They're entertaining. They're versatile. People want multifunctional clothing that they can dress up and dress down, " says celeb stylist Phillip Block.
