NYFW Spring 2014 / Zero + Maria Cornejo: Tribal Time
Zero by Maria Cornejo's spring collection swings from subdued to super spirited

When it comes to understanding Maria Cornejo's point of view on spring it's -- well -- all over the place. Digital prints walk among graphic black and whites and subdued solids.
"Maria Cornejo has such a happy, free spirited sensibility. I always like to see what she's up to," says Cindy Weber Cleary Fashion Director, In-Style Magazine.
The show starts with a parade of camel-colored looks. Stark white has a moment too and digital inspired prints with a bohemian twist keep things from getting too sleepy.
Hemlines are long, lots of dresses even layered over pants. Maybe it's the dramatic lengths but the show has a tribal feeling to it. Mettallic blue leather is so cool it makes you want to stomp your feet and howl at the moon.
Hair is neat and pulled back with a silver, tribal-like accessory.
"We decided that the clothes are quite soft and floaty and we wanted to toughen it up a bit. We are blowing with Phyto blow-dry spray then we are using gel for this section down the center and then we use heat protection on the straightening iron. It's quite light and you can still work with it. It doesn't feel too over loaded," say Martin Cullen Hair Stylist.
