NYFW Spring 2015: Swathed in Sweet Surprises
Fashion Week winds down with lazy garden strolls and dreamy designs off the beaten path

All week long at New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015, everything's been coming up roses... And daisies... And just about every other bloom under the sun.
Erin Fetherston's dreamy confection of a collection was no exception, this time with playful butterfly prints dancing among the flowers blossoming on the prettiest of pastel maxi dresses and cropped tops with demure collars.
Model Cory Kennedy mused, "Erin's designs are very [much] like a princess fantasy."
Also front row was frontman for the band Cobra Starship..."[Erin has] really been able to just blend in elements from her roots into the new thing that she's doing," said Gabe Saporta, "It's incredible."
As for the designer's inspiration? "A beautiful stroll through the garden," shared Fetherston, "I was really inspired by flowers and botanicals, and that really translated into a lighthearted collection, full of beautiful floral prints and rich fabrics and just...a collection with a real dolce vita spirit."
At Anna Sui, fashion was also in full bloom -- this time, with layer upon layer of floral motifs: tiny sprays of flowers sprouting up on creamy blazer-and-shorts sets, patterns of larger blooms colliding across lengthy skirts and along draping sleeves.
Seventeen Senior Fashion Editor Jasmine Snow was delightfully caught off guard, "I'm seeing a lot of layers, which I was surprised by. It's kind of refreshing that people are still using layers."
The color palette marked another departure from the norm. "I've actually seen a lot of hunter and olive green which is surprising for Spring, but pretty cool," adds Snow.
Nina Garcia noted the novel choices as well. "Some unexpected trends," said the Creative Director for Marie Claire, "Lengths vary. Very long."
But wherever Fashion may lead you in Spring 2015, be it towards the traditional or the unexpected, odds are the path will be lined with flowers.
