NYFW Spring 2015: Wedded to Spring's New Looks
The sideshow at Fashion Week is always an event in and of itself -- snapshots of starlets, even "selfies." But at the ICB show, all eyes were on the runway.
"I am a fan of the clothing, and I just met Prabal backstage as well," said Yvonne Strahovski.
Designer Prabal Gurung delivered an easy mix of dresses, separates, even metallics.
"I love that he makes his denims and fringe...and he does it in a casual, hip way. It's fun," said Holland Roden.
It went from fun to formal at the Bibhu Mohapatra show... Black and white, pale pink and blue floral evening wear was the focus.
Celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch said this week he saw, "A lot of mixing of patterns, some high waists, a lot of cropped tops."
If there was one consistent thread for Spring across all the runways this Fashion Week, it was that the dress is a must-have.
"Clearly dresses are making a comeback. A lot of dresses," said Joanna Coles.
Thankfully for us real girls, some, but not all of them, had peekaboo parts.
"It's always about the proportion, the balance of skin to the fabric on the body. And so you'll see a lot of short skirts but with really short-waisted voluminous jackets, but the spirit is the same," said Mohapatra.
Betsey Johnson turned the catwalk into a church aisle. The wedding themed collection included white tulle, off the shoulder numbers...even a bright blue bridesmaid dress.
"She's such a great awesome designer, and there's so much life in her, and I just love her clothes. They are so fun and vibrant," said "wedding guest" Tinsley Mortimer.
Models were dripping in pearls and dancing around the catwalk in Mr. & Mrs. "I DO" tank tops.
"The collection is about love. I mean, it was really fun to do...from the clothes, to the people, to the hair, [to] the perfect wedding nail. It was my favorite collection ever, ever, ever," said Betsey Johnson.
