From a national fashion phenomenon to a top-tier label, NYFW S/S 2016 is now in full swing. Here's what the attendees including Carrie Underwood, Alyssa Milano, Zac Posen, Matthew Morrison and Kelly Osbourne had to say.
Scene: Project Runway
Winding up it's fourteeth season, the fashion competition runway show showcased incredible talent, a heap of drama and, sadly, only a soupoun of Tim Gunn.
Judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Zac Posen and guest judge Carrie Underwood opened the show, resplendent in tailored-to-order suits and a chic, ultra-feminine dress, respectively. Fans watched as six finalists sent their varied collections down the runway. All were unique, with one standout: A plus-sized collection designer modeled by sized models was met with thunderous applause.
Here, the bold face names in attendance weigh in on what make this show stand out:
"I actually host Project Runway All Stars so I have sort of an insight to what goes on here. They work so hard, sleepless nights. A lot of blood, sweat and tears." Alyssa Milano, actress
"I'm here supporting the finalists. I don't know who they are yet but I'm excited to see who made it." Matthew Morrison, actor
"Having Ashley do a show with curvaceous models I'm really proud of her." Zac Posen, designer
"Fashion is meant to be fun and if you don't have fun with it then there's no point." Kelly Osbourne, fashion expert
Scene: Yigal Azroul The Israeli American, New York based designer launched his first collection in 1998, and has been running with the fashion elite every since. A favorite of celebrities, editors and socialites, his expertise in draping techniques has made him renowned for his sexy (yet demure) looks. This season the accompanying makeup looks complemented his designs by keeping it simple, elegant, and glowing.
"His collection is inspired by on the one hand Victorian influences and on the other hand more modern day influences like a tailored jacket and a black motorcycle jacket. So we created a very luminous, glowing look for the show. A very natural looking base, a matte eyeshadow, blush on the cheeks to mimic the natural flush of the cheeks and a matte pink lipstick. It's a very simple, glowing look." Benjamin Puckey, makeup artist
